The Tourist Trophy Races are an important income source for the Isle of Man with approximately 40’000 visitors annually. The length of the Circuit is 60.718 km on narrow streets, often bordered on the left and right with hedges and stone walls. The individual races last two to four laps with an average speed of more than 215 km/h. In short, it is the world’s most dangerous Motorcycle Race with over 266 fatalities in its 116-year history! I don’t know, is it coincidence, intention or just English humor, the Start and Finish line of the Races is opposite the cemetery; this should remind the Riders of their acute danger of death at every passage!
