The huge Guardian Angel, a “Nana” figure of the artist Niki de Saint Phalle, watches over the travelers and visitors in the main hall of the Zurich train station. Until the beginning of the 20th Century, steam trains rolled into this huge station hall. Nowadays, events of every kind take place in this two thousand square meter large and twenty meter high station hall. The changing events such as markets, sports events, music and opera performances and much more, have become in the meantime a tourist attraction of the city of Zurich. In the month of July, you can not only admire the permanently installed “Nana”, but also a monumental, tree-like work of hand-knotted multicolored cotton bands (Gaia Mother Tree) by the Brazilian artist Ernesto Saboia de Albuquerque Neto, one of the most important contemporary artists in Latin America.

I like Zurich, I remember being on a shuttle from the airport and they played sounds of animals and relaxing ambient sounds with images, and I thought that was very cool at the time.

Yes, they still have this sounds of cows, jodling, etc. Each time I return from abroad and th play these sounds in the shuttle train, I feel at home 🙂
